Breaking into Software: Ideas

the first step to starting in software is getting an idea

Deep Dive:

okay - so we have our software idea now here’s how we’re going to validate this quickly and affordably

step 1) Sign up to framer or webflow and make an early bird landing page

call out your ideal client profile, say the main benefit of your software, and tell them why they should join the waitlist (discount on launch + free goodie)

you’ll have to make a lead magnet (free guide)

here’s an example for my power dialer

“Agency Owners and B2B SaaS, Our dialer helps your team dial 2x more people per day with parallel dialing, sign up to the waitlist to get in on early pricing + I’ll send you a free guide on how to scale a commission only sales team”

make your lead magnet using Gamma (google doc alternative) and pay for the premium plan and you can see who viewed it and then remarket to the people that do (you can also see how much of the doc they viewed)

Step 2: Sign up to listkit and smartlead 

build a list of your ideal client profile with listkit, buy 5-10 domains and begin warming them up inside smartlead

start sending 10 cold emails per domain per day to your ideal client profile with a script like this

subject: quick question

“Hey {prospect name}

I’ll get straight to it - I’m building a SaaS that {insert main value adds}

and I’m looking for a few beta users - are you opposed to trying it out? “

if you get 20+ positive replies, run with it.

Step 3) Build an MVP

you can either learn to build yourself or hire a team

if you sign up to bubble’s starter plan using my affiliate link, I’ll give you a 10 hour bubble course for free

or you can pay a bubble developer to build it for you, if you want my in house bubble devs to build your idea, book a call here

continue to build your waitlist while the MVP is being built

Step 4) Go to market strategy

ramp up your cold email campaigns, and start creating more free guides (lead magnets) around your ideal client profiles pain points or frequently asked questions

link them all back to your software and begin posting organic content on all platforms with the purpose of getting people to your lead magnets

start to add in more forms of traffic, partnerships, content, linkedin outbound, cold calling, and eventually ads

now you keep getting new users and taking feedback and making the product better

and boom! You’re on your way to your first exit
