The Trait Of Winners

there’s really been two traits that I’d say I have that I believe have contributed to my success and all of my most successful friends also share these

among pro athletes, actors, and really anyone that achieves greatness in life

and I would say they go hand in hand, but here’s the first one

Obsession

no one does anything great without being obsessed with it, this is so obvious in many of the greats, Steve Jobs, Elon, Michael Jordan, all of these guys are OBSESSED with their craft

their brains can’t turn off from it, all they can think about is their craft, and I’ve found myself to operate in a similar way

I obsess over things (that I care about) and get these fixations that I can’t turn off, and it used to be tennis and slowly transformed into business

I often find myself just thinking about how I can grow my companies bigger and better, how I can make better content, how I can grow my influence etc

I’ve recently not been able to stop thinking about Payd, it’s all I want to think about, it’s so exciting to me and I’ve been crazy fixated on it compared to anything in the past

the second thing that successful people have is…

conviction

when they’re obsessed, they’re going to go all in on it, they will bet on themselves with conviction

I’ve done this time and time again, I left school with conviction that I’d be alright, I moved to Miami at 20 with conviction that I’d grow my business there

there truly was never a doubt that things wouldn’t work out for me, I had too much conviction that I knew it was inevitable that things would work out for me

it was never “scary” it just felt right and natural

I even explicitly remember one of my buddies asking me a few days before my move “are you like freaking out right now” and I was like, actually, no, I’m just excited

and I have more conviction than ever in Payd, which is why I even began shutting down some of my other companies to go all in on this

and again, there’s not even a sliver of doubt that it’ll work out for me

find someone with obsession & conviction in an idea coupled with some work ethic and that person is a person of force

every single time I see this - I know the person will be successful, when their eyes light up talking about an idea, and they’re willing to do whatever it is to make it work

that person is going to succeed, whether it’s in a year, three years or five, it’s going to happen

so if you are like what I just described, keep going, the fruits of your labor are inevitable
