{Free Business MBA} Building SaaS

don't miss this one

What We’ll Cover:

this is going to be a very lengthy newsletter that I am going to make it the most in depth free business course I can in the time I have to write this

the goal of this email is to transfer my 5.5 years in business and my greatest lessons and knowledge into your brain inside a 10-20 minute read

sound good? Cool let’s dive in

Business Fundamentals:

so a business ultimately is trying to solve a problem or an inefficiency in a market and maybe this sounds dumb but people over look it

to spot this inefficiencies, you need to take a process and break it down into one of these three buckets

1) value creating = positive for customer

2) value capture = where the transaction occurs (sale)

3) value eroding = takes away value, negative for customer

let’s use the example of getting a movie from block buster back in the day

the customer chain went as such: drive to block buster (value eroding), look for your desired movie (value eroding), checkout (value capture), drive home (value eroding), watch movie (value creation), drive back & return movie (value eroding)

so as you can see, there were a lot of inefficiencies in their customer chain, that allowed netflix to come in and quickly kill them

this is what i did with Closify, the customer chain doing it themselves looked like this

"make job posts on indeed, fiverr (value eroding), go through network (value eroding), conduct interviews (value eroding), hire (value creation)”

or if they use a recruiter: pay a TON of money, recruiter does process above ^, still takes a month (value erosion), they get a hire (value creation)

and there’s THREE primary things that annoy and change customer behavior

  • EXPENSIVE activities / solutions

  • TIME consuming activities

  • EFFORTFUL activities

hiring sales reps yourself was TIME consuing and effortless, using recruiters was EXPENSIVE and still TIME consuming

Closify made it inexpensive, way faster (7 day hiring period vs 30) and effortless (hiring platform for ONLY vetted sales reps)

you need to understand this and CONSTANTLY be analyzing where you can spot these inefficiencies in markets and customer chains

I can tell you right now, business owners are fed up with how expensive softwares are, and I can tell you, AI will continue to blow up because AI is bringing the costs down of softwares

this is why AI and AI agents are so lucrative and disruptive right now, they are making processes in customer chains faster, less expensive, and less effort

I know I’ve talked a million times about using Acquire(dot)com to get business ideas, but this is how you really do it

Sell First, Build Later:

You’ve likely heard this before, but too many people move way too damn slow

before they start their business they’re like: “Ok, I need a business plan, a pretty website, a logo, some mock ups, a mission statement, maybe let me go print some hats, and and and…”

NO!

validate your business first, pre sells are one of the best ways to do this, whatever it is you’re going to sell, whether it’s a digital product, SaaS, app, service, sell it before you go spend a ton of time money and energy actually building it

if it’s a dud you need to be able to move on quickly without any emotion and having not lost much and be onto your next idea which means you’re one closer to your winner

Find Your “How” You’ll Get Rich:

This is a lesson from one of my business partners and he told me this when he came on board at Closify

and he said “you’re super lucky, because you’ve found HOW you’ll make a lot of money with this business, and trust me this is it, but most people never find their how”

the hardest part is finding the business that will be your “how” this may take you cycling through a lot of ideas like I said above, but when you do find your how, do not mess it up and do not let momentum die

Marketing 101

I have a 94 week streak of writing bare minimum 1 email a week to this list, but as you likely know I really send more like 2-4 per week

getting good at writing is single handily one of the best and most transferrable skills you can get

specifically, direct response copywriting (search that on youtube later), literally everything stems with being able to write well

I would not have blown up so fast on social media, had I not been so good at writing, because all my content is writing in video form

copywriting is written sales, so when I write my content scripts it translates, when I write video sales letters, ads, landing page copy, product emails

you need to become a very good communicator - both written and speaking, you need to be comfortable speaking in crowds

you need to be able to actively listen to people when they talk, like ACTUALLY listen and make them feel heard and understood

you need to learn how to make people feel excited to be a part of your team

as this world get’s more software and AI, and remote culture increases and people become less social, being an incredible communicator becomes increasingly more valuable

when you’re a good communicator, you can talk your way into jobs, opportunities, influence people at scale (through content) etc

you MUST prioritize this - trust me.

Trust Carefully:

there’s often a lot of people around you that you don’t know it but that are absolute sharks

and in the business world, there’s a lot of them but you just won’t know it until you bleed

be careful who you divulge information to - especially information that’s critical to your company, things like:

  • IP related things

  • marketing strategies / how you get customers

  • finances

  • future roadmap for product

you don’t need a lot of people in your corner, find a few really good ones and keep them there

Embrace Failure

the odds of you experiencing failures is 100% - so do not be discouraged when they happen

every failure is getting you closer to where you ultimately want to be - it literally wouldn’t be fun if all you ever did was win win win win

you need the L’s to keep you grounded and keep the game fun, because that’s all it is as the end of the day, one big game

every failure is molding you into a stronger person to be able to handle even bigger failures (sorry if that sounds bad lol) but to an extend it’s true

if you run a $10,000/mo business, the headaches and failures you can experience are much smaller than when you run a $100,000/mo operation

just embrace it

Build YOUR Life

the point of business is the ultimate freedom to build the life YOU want

do not go chasing to build the life that OTHERS want for you, or the life you THINK you should live based off social media

I know every guru you follows has some nice high rise in Miami and has the cars and watches and whatever

and maybe you want to try it out - but you also may be happier in the mountains spending most of your days skiing

or maybe you want to just go travel all over

the point is - build the life that is true to you

for example, I’ve spent the last 6 months or so back in Ohio where I’m from to spend more time with family and my hometown friends

however, now, I’m absolutely freezing so I’m exercising my freedom I’m blessed to have and going back to Miami tomorrow for a bit (I’m not built for the cold)

but you get the point
