Obsession: “an idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person’s mind”

and I was thinking about this lately

because there’s been this weird thing happening to me lately where I keep waking up in the middle of the night

and I’ve always been the person that sleeps through the night - no issues at all

but I’m not waking up in the middle of the night for no reason

I keep waking up in the middle of the night with IDEAS

with “aha” moments

tremendous breakthroughs

that then I can’t go right back to bed - this breakthrough consumes my mind and I have to get my laptop or a notepad to jot everything down

and I find my mind being consumed with these new companies I’m running

I love making content

I love building software companies

and it’s all I can think about

new marketing angles

new sales assets to create

new partnerships to form

new ads to create

new newsletter topics to write to you about

I am OBSESSED with this game of making money online

and before this - I was obsessed with tennis

It was all I could think about, it was all I’d watch on TV or youtube

it consumed my mind

and as I think about my most successful friends, athletes, etc

they’re all obsessed

it’s not just like oh we do this because it’s kinda cool and we kinda enjoy it

no we are OBSESSED with this.

it’s all we can think about, doesn’t matter where we are or what we’re doing

my mind cannot stop thinking about ways for me to grow the businesses, make better content, and level up inside this video game we call life

and you need to have an obsession

what are you drawn to?

what could you talk about for hours without needing to do any prep work

what do you find yourself constantly yearning to do

lean into this… find your obsession and become world class at it
