Hey You. Let Go.
learn to flow
When I was 17/18 if you asked me how my next 5-6 years of my life would play out I would have told you “oh well I’m going to get into a good college, get good grades, get an amazing finance job and start to work my way up”
that didn’t happen - I didn’t even finish school, I dropped out and moved to Miami at 20 - I never saw that possibly being in the cards
then once I was running Closify, if you asked me my plan for the next few years, I would have said “oh I’m going to build Closify up for another 3-5 years then sell it then go into private equity”
I didn’t run it for that long, I sold majority in a shorter time horizon than I had “planned” and then I blew up on social media by accident
I never wanted to have a following, I wanted to be “rich and anonymous” and at the start of this year if you asked me my plans I would have said “oh I’ll build Zappx up and run my agency for another few years”
and now, while still running both, I’m shifting my focus to this app I’m building because I have way more conviction and a gut feeling
so what’s my point? You need to let go and let life happen
it’s okay to plan, but you need to be fluid, I’ve found among all my friends we almost always find life plays out differently than we expected, and it’s always for the better
but it may not seem like that always, maybe your original plan is failing and it’s just beating you up right now
but you’re so stubborn and stuck in your ways that you’re twisting the knife trying to force something to work, trying to force one path to where if you just let go and let life happen you’d be brought down a new path that may be better
the greatest opportunities have come to me from being fluid and just accepting where life takes me
I’ll give you another example: I hated NYC, I was asked to go to NYC, and I almost said no because I previously hated it, but I went because I was flowing with life
as a result, I won a really good business deal there, and also met someone that I’m now working with
neither opportunity would have come if I wasn’t fluid
I said yes to moving to Miami on a whim - sometimes life takes you places that you can’t see the reason why until you look back
life has a funny way of teaching you lessons, if you’re going through something right now, if you’re at rock bottom, maybe take that as your sign that this path isn’t the one for you, and something better is waiting
this is something for you to think about - I know every time I’ve tried to force a path that may not feel 100% right in my gut, I’ve ended up having to learn a lesson
every time I’ve just fully accepted I’ll go wherever life takes me and whatever happens happens - things have gone my way
follow your gut and follow what feels right to you
think about this today
happy friday eve
