Fastest Way to Start a SaaS and Make Money
Here's how to ACTUALLY make money in SaaS
first, let me reiterate why SaaS is the best opportunity in 2023
when people like Iman Gadzhi, Alex Becker, Sam Ovens, are all going all in on SaaS, it may be worth paying attention
Alex Becker started Hyros in 2019, at the start of 2023, he sold it for 110M
4 years, $110m.
that isn’t happening in agency, ecom, sales, etc
is it an extreme and he’s a top notch entrepreneur? yes
but SaaS has huge exit multipliers, high profit, and if done well, they’re sticky which means your customer NEEDS your software to run their business meaning they won’t churn even in an economic downturn
so, how do you even start?
You need an idea
shocker, right? so how do we come up with an idea? here’s a few methods
Go to acquire(dot)com and scroll through SaaS listings for sale: then once you find a SaaS you find interesting or a niche of SaaS, google “{niche} g2 reviews” so example {b2b email finder g2 reviews} then scroll to what people dislike, find a recurring complaint and solve that complaint in the first version of your SaaS
Have an audience? get them to fill out a form about what softwares they subscribe to, and what they like and don’t like about them
find an internal problem in your life/business, build an internal solution for yourself, and then figure out who else you can sell it to
Next, we need to build our Minimum viable product or MVP
so, how do we do this? we have a few options based on our budget, and how tech savvy we are.
low budget & not tech savvy (me) use softr, click here to check it out. I used softr to build an AI SaaS product in like a day, and the plans are super affordable and it’s drag and drop to use
low budget & not tech savvy: you can also look into make(dot)com as well as flutterflow etc
High technical ability or high budget: build on bubble(dot)io this is what my 2 companies I sold we’re built on. It’s basically indistinguishable from custom code but it is a steep learning curve to learn and so what I did was paid bubble developers, but it’ll run you 5-10k for an MVP. I own a bubble dev agency now, so if you have an idea and have a budget in that range, you can respond “bubble” and we can talk
Next, while our MVP is being built, we need to build a waitlist
Here’s how we will sign people up that are DYING to pay us & prepare for launch
build a landing page using carrd: call out your ideal client profile, explain the benefits of your SaaS, then promise a massive discount on the launch + bonuses if they sign up for the early bird waitlist
once they sign up, create an email nurture sequence using convertkit to keep them interested until launch: answer FAQ, tease them with snippets, give the founder story, etc
how to get signups? run outbound campaigns on linkedin, twitter, and in facebook groups to get people to sign up and also promote it to any preexisting audiences you have
Sign up affiliates for when you actually launch (ideally people with big audiences in your niche)
create launch week content in advance: threads, short form, launch email announcements, etc
Now, the fun part, we get to launch & get paying customers from day 1
Launch week:
send a launch email to your waitlist every day for 7-10 days
switch your outbound campaigns from pushing them to waitlist to pushing them to your live SaaS product
have your affiliates start blasting launch content
post all of your premade launch content on all platforms
if you follow all of this, you will get customers from day 1, it’s the exact process by student who owns tiktrends.io followed and he now has 70+ customers in under a month
after this, you scale which is a whole other email
