My Biggest Mistake

Recently I was asked if I regret dropping out of college

and the answer is - yes absolutely.

You see, I run a venture studio where people come to us with their Software idea

and my in house developers build it and I consult on sales and marketing

we’ve built over 15 projects in the last year and on pace to build 60-100 this year

and recently, I was working on closing my biggest deal ever for it, worth 6 figures

the prospect was loving everything, the price, the timeline, my experience, everything

we came to an agreement, I sent over the contract and the invoice

and then..

the prospect said “wait…I have one more question… do you have a degree?”

I was honest and said I do not - they were repulsed

In a condescending tone, they said, “do you even know the four P’s of marketing?!”

I stuttered, “price….product….promotion…uh …uh”

I couldn’t remember the last one

they instantly broke off the deal

despite me having sold a company, getting millions of views per month online, and consulted for over 50 software companies

so yes - I wish I stayed in college and watched the youtube videos my professor sent to us rather than making his own lessons

jokes aside… this story obviously never happened and I don’t regret it a bit
