If you’re starting a software company, your goal should not be to be driving super cars and living in penthouses in a year
your goal should be keeping as much money in the business as possible and building it up for 2-5 years and then selling it for a nice multiple
and then once you get that lumpsum….. INVEST money first and then have your fun

the most successful software companies I follow always have the same things in common
some of the best ones I’ve been following are beehiiv (where I send this newsletter through), instantly (what I use for sending cold emails), and listkit (where I get email addresses and phone numbers for cold email or cold calling)
and what these all have in common are the following
1) they either make me more money or save me time
beehiiv is super easy to use and gives me tons of monetization opportunities, between sponsors, boosts, and more
cold email was a huge driver of growth for closify so using their sending platform made closify a lot of money
listkit is where I get the data from of the people we emailed which made us money
2) They’re super sticky (we won’t cancel)
if all of these subscriptions make me way more money, and they’re an integral part of my buisness, I’m NEVER going to cancel my subscription meaning they’re going to have super low churn
the only reason I’d ever cancel is if cold email stopped working, or listkits quality went to 0, or if a way way better newsletter platform came out and it’d have to be way better because it’d be a pain to switch
so when you’re thinking of software ideas or maybe you have one that you’re validating now
ask yourself, does this make people more money and is it integral to running their business and if so then they likely wouldn’t cancel
these are the ideas that are BIG winners
